If you’ve experienced sore gums, bleeding during brushing and flossing, or noticed your teeth shifting, it’s important to address these issues promptly. Additionally, changes in your breath may indicate the health of your gums. It’s time to consider a thorough evaluation for a deep cleaning procedure, known as scaling and root planing, to treat gum disease and restore your gum health.

Here Are Some Signs Of Periodontal Disease:

  • Continuous bleeding during brushing and flossing.
  • Persistent bad breath not resolved by mouthwash.
  • Red, swollen gums with an unhealthy appearance.
  • Noticeable black triangles between teeth indicating bone loss.

Your Gentle Dental Experience

Deep cleaning involve the removal of soft or hardened plaque from beneath the gum line, promoting gum healing, preventing tooth and bone loss, and halting the progression of gum disease.

What To Expect

1-2 appointments

After a thorough examination, dental radiographs, and a comprehensive assessment of pocket depth, you will be scheduled for your quadrant scaling and root planing procedure. Each quadrant takes approximately 45 minutes, and we prioritize your comfort throughout the procedure. Typically, we recommend splitting it into two appointments.

Once full local anesthesia is achieved, a combination of ultrasonic instruments and hand scalers will be used to effectively remove the harmful buildup from your teeth. If the treatment is divided into two appointments, a medicated mouth rinse will be prescribed to enhance tissue healing between visits.

Upon completion, a follow-up appointment is scheduled in three months to assess pocket depth reduction, overall tissue health, and your home maintenance routine.
