Dental Implants
Implants are the best solution to simulate the look, feel, and function of natural teeth. Dental implants do much more than replace missing teeth. They help to maintain and strengthen bone structure, helping patients to chew healthy food and gives patients the confidence to smile. They also protect existing teeth by helping to preserve the bone structure.
Dental implants are metallic posts surgically placed into the jawbone beneath the gums, offering stable support for artificial teeth. Even those who have lost jawbone density can be eligible and may need a bone graft first. Dentures and bridges attached to implants will not shift in your mouth, enhancing comfort and confidence while eating and speaking.
You Are A Suitable Candidate For Dental Implants:
- Are in overall good health.
- Have healthy gums.
- Possess sufficient bone density in your jaw to anchor the implants.
- Are committed to regular oral hygiene for the care of your implants.
What To Expect
Multiple Visits — Case Dependent
After local anesthesia, the titanium implant is inserted in the jawbone. The site is then sutured and left to heal for about two to three months. Around the three-month mark, we check for osseointegration, or the fusion of the implant with the jawbone, forming a strong foundation for the replacement tooth. A contoured healing cap is then placed to guide gum shaping and prepare for the final crown.
Dr. Duy Nguyen will use X-rays to ensure precise fitting so that he can replace the healing cap and craft a lifelike crown. The healing cap is then reattached, with your next visit scheduled in two weeks for the final crown insertion.
The final visit is straightforward. The healing cap is removed, the implant site is disinfected, and the custom abutment and crown are placed. X-rays confirm the perfect fit, ensuring no gaps between the abutment and implant.
If good overall dental health is maintained and you regularly receive quality dental care, your dental implants should last for decades.
