Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic bonding is a versatile and minimally invasive dental procedure that can significantly enhance your smile. Accidents happen, and sometimes you may chip a front tooth while biting into something hard, or perhaps you’ve always been bothered by small gaps between your teeth. If you’re looking for a cosmetic solution to enhance your smile without the need for veneers, cosmetic bonding might be the perfect choice for you!
You Cosmetic Bonding Can:
- Close small gaps between teeth.
- Repair minor chips or cracks in teeth.
- Conceal erosion spots and tooth imperfections.
- Enhance the overall appearance of your smile without extensive tooth reduction.
- Provide a quick and effective solution for cosmetic dental concerns.
Your Gentle Dental Experience
This procedure uses tooth-colored composite resin material that is carefully applied and sculpted by a skilled dentist to achieve natural-looking results.
What To Expect
1-2 hour appointment depending on how many teeth are involved
During your appointment, which typically lasts between 1 to 2 hours, our team at Gentle Dental Fort Belvoir will carefully assess your smile. We will take photographs to evaluate color, shape, and discuss your cosmetic goals.
While anesthesia is not always necessary, it can be administered upon your preference. We may perform slight beveling to facilitate a smooth color transition between the composite and your natural tooth, reducing any noticeable difference. In most cases, we will use a combination of different composites to achieve a harmonious blend of shades, translucency, and a natural appearance.
Once the composite is applied, contoured, and adjusted to fit your bite, we will use a series of polishers to create a lifelike luster. It’s important to be cautious with eating, especially in cases of broken front teeth, to prevent damage to the composite filling. If cosmetic bonding is done due to lost tooth structure from grinding, we’ll recommend wearing a nightguard for protection.
Composite bondings can last for years with proper care and maintenance. Your dental hygiene and bite will play a role in determining the longevity of your bonding.
